In recent decades, our diet has changed. Many are the factors involved, one of them the rhythm of life; we have become accustomed to instantaneity.

We start the day with energy, wanting to take care of ourselves and follow a healthy diet, but as the day goes on, taking care of what you eat seems a difficult task. In those moments we usually resort to something quick, precooked or cold and with little elaboration.

In many cases, we avoid “fast food” but we use food that, although apparently low in calories and small in quantity, is usually the opposite: hypercaloric or hypocaloricand in an unbalanced way, which ends up lowering the quality of our food.

After a day of effort, breakfast, mid-morning, lunch and snack, dinner becomes the most difficult challenge.

On April 5, from the Health and Wellbeing Unit of the Hospital QuironSalud Marbella, we celebrated the II Workshop on Healthy Eating, with the collaboration of the Bepers Restoration Service.

What were the key points of the workshop?

To follow a balanced diet we must consume carbohydrates, proteins, fruits and vegetables. 50% of the dish should be composed of fruits and vegetables, 25% should be hydrates and the remaining 25% protein. As for the drink, the best option is always water.

Pre-cooked meals, in addition to having many calories, contain a lot of salt, sugar and preservatives, which makes them unhealthy.

Hypocaloric dinners based on a single nutrient (eat only fruits, for example), are often not very satiating or unbalanced and they also do not achieve our goal of healthy eating.

Therefore, the key is finding easy, quick and healthy dinner recipes.

Here goes an idea for dinner: Sautéed turkey with mango

Ingredientes:

  • 100g of turkey
  • half a mango
  • a spoonful of extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 a splash of white wine

Preparation:

Peel the mango and chop it in cubes. Fry the turkey in the pan with the oil and set aside. Put some white wine in the pan and add the mango. Allow reducing. Finish cooking the turkey together with the mango. Undo the mango with a fork and serve as sauce next to the turkey and with a small piece of whole-wheat bread.

With a little imagination and some advice, dinner can become the best time of the day to enjoy an appetizing meal while relaxing after a long day at work.
